Taking the stylistic format of the break/s, and fueled by a highly-charged election year, this national project will engage young writers, poets and filmmakers to collaborate and create spoken word poems and short films that give voice to their views on social, cultural and political issues that are important to them.
A Model for Spoken Word’s Artistic Trajectory
We educate audiences about the possibilities and artistic merit of new forms and genres of the literary arts. In providing an apprenticeship program for emerging voices under the guidance of an Artistic Director, as well as opportunities for their work to be developed and presented through a guided mentoring process, we empower the continuity of the living word.
Line Breaks is an initiative of the University of Wisconsin Madison’s Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives (OMAI), HHTF and Marc Bamuthi Joseph to promote and advance Hip-Hop arts, culture and education.
